Mr. Powell was Chairman of General Mills, Inc., an international producer, marketer and distributor of cereals, snacks and processed foods, from 2008 through 2017 and was Chief Executive Officer of General Mills, Inc. from 2007 to 2017. He was President and Chief Operating Officer of General Mills, Inc. from 2006 to 2007, and became a director of General Mills, Inc. in 2006. He was Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, U.S. Retail from 2005 to 2006; and Executive Vice President of General Mills, Inc. from 2004 to 2005. From 1999 to 2004, Mr. Powell was Chief Executive Officer of Cereal Partners Worldwide, a joint venture of General Mills, Inc. and the Nestle Corporation. He joined General Mills, Inc. in 1979.
