Admiral Christopher W. Grady served as the twelfth Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the United States second highest-ranking military officer, from December 2021 until October 2025. During this time, Admiral Grady served on the Deputies Committee of the National Security Council and chaired the Joint Requirement Oversight Council, which is responsible for reviewing and establishing acquisition priorities for major weapon systems among the military branches. He also served as the senior member of the Nuclear Weapons Council, responsible for managing the atomic stockpile and coordinating nuclear weapon-related programs and budgets. During his extensive career, he also served as the Commander of the U.S. Fleet Forces Command and Commander of the U.S. 6th Fleet and Naval Striking and Support Forces, NATO, in addition to several other senior leadership roles within the U.S. Navy.
