Jonathan C. Root, M.D. has served as a member of our board of directors since 2023. Dr. Root is an experienced cardiologist and venture investor, and has served as a Venture Partner at Leerink Partners, a healthcare investment bank, since January 2022. Dr. Root was previously a Venture Partner at OrbiMed Advisors LLC, a healthcare investment firm, from January 2020 to December 2021. Prior to that, Dr. Root was with AstraZeneca, where he worked in various cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic disease research and development roles from 2014 to 2019. Dr. Root previously worked at Scios Inc., a biopharmaceutical company focused on cardiovascular and inflammatory diseases from 2000 to 2014. He is also a clinical consultant for BioVendor Laboratory Medicine, Inc. and serves on advisory boards for various healthcare and medical technology companies. Dr. Root received an M.D. from Yale School of Medicine and an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School.
