Bret D. McLeod serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Equity Residential, a leading owner and operator of high-quality apartment communities across the United States. Appointed to this role in January 2020, McLeod oversees the company's financial strategy, including financial reporting, planning and analysis, tax, treasury, risk management, and investor relations. Prior to Equity Residential, he held finance and accounting positions at LaSalle Investment Management and Arthur Andersen. A Certified Public Accountant, McLeod earned a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and a Master of Science in Accountancy from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Under McLeod's stewardship, Equity Residential has navigated complex market dynamics, including the integration of major acquisitions like the 2013 Archstone merger, while optimizing its portfolio for long-term performance. His expertise in REIT accounting and capital markets has contributed to the company's consistent outperformance, earning recognition for robust governance and transparency in financial disclosures.
